Two new articles on Decay for Herri
Herri Journal Issue 13 - Decay Without Mourning - screencap from my article entitled Aura, Decay and the Simulation of Ghosts
Following on from my trip to Stellenbosch in South Africa, for the Decay Without Mourning conference at STIAS, I have penned two journal articles, published today in the associated issue of Herri journal.
The first is my original conference paper looking at generative image making as a form of decay, and building on my concept of Vectorplasm, entitled Aura, Decay and the Simulation of Ghosts.
The second was comissioned by the editors as a kind of overview of the conference and how it changed my understanding of what decay is, and what it means socially - that one is called Decay, Creativity and Care in Stellenbosch. It is an amazing publication that really pushes the academic journal format into new territory, fit for the 21st century - and this is easily the best issue yet. You can give the whole thing a read here (and try out their “Decay Machine” on your own images!).
